This is a great textbook. Not for casual reading. It has so much information about floral design and care and handling of fresh flowers and foliage. It gives good design illustrations that you can copy and make for your home or for friends and family. I'll be referring to this book for information long after my classes are over.

This is a great book. It is a textbook style book, so it is a little on the technical side. If you are interested in retail floristry then you will find it to be a great book. But if you are a hobbyist or are looking for a book to give you ideas for arrangements to place around the house/office this book maybe more technical than you want.

The Seventh-Day Adventist Hymnal

I have purchased a number of these books for use during a home Bible Study. I think that the old songs are beautiful & I enjoy introducing songs that may or may not be familiar to the group. These songs are written in a key that is easy to sing. The words of the songs are very moving. There is a section that has the song titles categorized such as in faith & trust. Responsive readings correlate with these categories which I find helpful.

Beautiful Hymnal Book with Music

This has all the hymns known in the christian community....Amazing Grace, Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus, I surrender all, Rock of Ages....The Old Rugged Cross. I'm a pianist and this has all the music notation for over 500 hymns. This is a hardback. Keep in mind, if you're a pianist it can be hard to keep the pages from turning. I use paper clips or you can also place your bible on one of the edges to keep it from closing.

I like christian music in general, but hymns are very special to me and really make my heart sing. Everytime I play these in piano, I think of my mom, more of reason why I treasure these hymns.

What a wonderful fun book to read about a couples journey around the world! I almost don' t have to go on a trip now....so many details. They are viewing the places from the people who live there and from a historical perspective they have gleamed. It is especially delightful to read because we know this couple.

David Ellenson is chancellor of Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion. The Bible Story in Words and Picture for Children

My parents had a set (10 volumes) of "The Bible Story", in our bookshelf at home. I cannot count the times I took down a volume just to look at the pictures. The pictures, which are for the most part excellent, and some works of art, speak as loud as the words, and will spark discussions with your children.

There are 10 volumes in the set (mine are hardbound), and each volume covers a particular epoch of the Bible. Starting with Volume 7, the Life of Christ is depicted. Volume 10 covers the Second Coming and Revelation. The set is truly a masterpiece of literature for children, for the stories are simple to understand and the pictures add to the narrative immensely. There has been nothing to compare to these volumes since they were published.

Some reviewers have been critical of this series as it fails to tell the "whole story" or has a definite slant in terms of religious philosophy. I disagree strongly. The series was written for children. Children are not ready for all the grit and tragedy that is in our Holy Book. The book series is not meant to be a comprehensive "tell-all" of each Bible story. Rather, the books lay out the backbone outline of the Bible story. It lays a foundation for future study. As far as religious slant, my opinion is that these books are very generic in presenting the story of Christian faith. I do not see a slant to any particular religion or belief.

If you have children and want to teach them the basics of the Bible, then these volumes are priceless in introducing your youngsters to the faith. I cannot sing their praises enough.

Fantastic Introduction to Scripture for children!

First off, let me say that contrary to several negative remarks made here as to the biblical veracity of these books, I have personally found "The Bible Story" series to be very responsible in portraying the authentic stories found in the Bible. Each chapter includes the Bible books, chapters and verses from which the story is taken, as well as many quotations throughout the story itself and appropriate footnotes at the end.

My girls, ages 5 and 8 are riveted by the stories and beautiful pictures (the paper and binding quality is first class and the illustrations are truly works of art). This is our second reading of these books and the girls can't get enough, always asking for "just one more story!" They ask such amazing questions about God, human destiny, evil, the afterlife, etc. that shows the stories are sinking in. Many stories also include a moral application at the end, encouraging the children to draw strength from the story for their lives.

I must warn that these books will not hold the attention span of most active preschoolers, at least our 2.5 year old boy has a hard time focusing. Also, these books are NOT a replacement for the Bible. I encourage my 8-year-old to read her kids' Study Bible regularly for personal devotions; but for family time, "The Bible Story" series has been a true heaven sent for our family. I highly recommend this for yours too!

Wonderful Set of Books

When I was growing up in the late 1960's this set of books was in our family physicians office, dentist office and hospital lobby. I LOVED looking at and reading these books! I actually looked forward to going to the dentist/doctor so I could read these books. The series tells the story of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in story form. For each story there is a beautiful piece of artwork which accompanies it. This series of books played a very important part in my life as a young child. Arthur Maxwell also authored "Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories" which taught morals/values in a child friendly format. These books are great for family devotionals.

Amazon and Kindle, please make sure your digital books have been properly edited. Case in point in this version of the Tanakh; There are ten cases where the word 'cat' is used in lieu of 'eat' and two instances where 'eves' is used instead of 'eyes' and 3 instances of 'diat' instead of 'that.'

It is not enough to scan these books. Someone needs to edit them, too.
