Thinly written, no support for the author's conclusion

As a reader and collector of dozens of books on the Borden murders, it was interesting to finally see one that presented Emma Borden as the murderer. The author presents a decent recounting of the murders, trial, and aftermath for a first time reader of the tragedy. However it is on the last page of the book that the conclusion that Emma did it is finally presented, and with no evidence to back up this opinion, citing only motive and opportunity. Also, there are numerous quotes throughout the book with no reference to who made them. Could Emma have been the murderer? Possibly, but there's no real support for it here.

Another Erroneous Charge

Around 1960 Edward Radin wrote his book after reinvestigating the crime based on his actual interviews from people who knew Lizzie (died in 1927). No other author of that era did so. Radin correctly rejected the idea of Lizzie as the murderer.
But he sought to blame innocent Bridget for the crime, something that the authorities did not consider after the first day. This book is not easily found today in a Public Library, unlike twenty years ago.
David Kent's "Forty Whacks" is the one best book to cover this case. Arnold Brown's book "Lizzie Borden, the Final Chapter" provides the best solution possible (the murders were done by a relative whose identity was kept secret). Read them and judge for yourself.
