A.E. Bennett was an instructor in New Brunswick, Canada.
Following a successful career as a high school drafting teacher, Louis J. Siy spent 20 years as an industry professional, serving as both a draftsman and a consultant. Siy remains active in the AWS and has served on the organization's Symbols Committee.

Missing symbol wheel and review doesn't go with chapters

I have had this book replaced once by Amazon, good customer service on their part, but both books did not have the weld symbol wheel the book claims to contain, poor publishing there. To add to the problems is the review questions at the end of each chapter having less and less to do with what was covered in the current chapter or previous chapters. Many of the review questions I was able to answer only because of previous knowledge. I must also question the vocabulary used, glossary and indexing of the book, and clarity of what was trying to be taught with the book. The graph paper offered in the book for doing the work for isometric drawings is set at a 45 degree angle when it should be at a 30 degree angle. I would also mention that while the paper seems like it would stand up well over time, the coating put on the paper also make it very difficult to use a pencil to do the previously mentioned work on the graph paper. It feels to me that very little thought was put into the organization, composition, and materials {both covered and physical} of this book. I plan to speak with my teacher about his choice in this book for a college level class. I would have expected more.

This is a excellent resource for a welder or fitter .. I have refreshed my self and also picked up additional knowledge from this book. I will be repurchasing it again since gave my copy to a friend that just enrolled in welding school..
